Understanding Your Cyclical Self
BEYOND PMS:
A skills group for folks who suspect their menstrual cycle is quietly (or loudly) hijacking their mental health
Beyond PMS: Understanding Your Cyclical Self
This group might be for you if you’ve ever:
Experienced intense waves of depression, rage, shame, or self-loathing that mysteriously come and go
Felt cyclical doubts or fears about your relationships that don’t match your “normal” self
Been told you might be bipolar...
Been prescribed birth control as a one-size-fits-all solution
Wondered if your menstrual cycle is playing a bigger role in your emotional life
What you’ll get out of it:
Support from people who actually get it
How to track and understand your cycle without obsessing or spiraling
Why an understanding of your cycle helps you understand yourself
Evidence-based coping tools grounded in research, not vibes alone
Language to explain what’s happening to partners, friends, and providers—without minimizing yourself
Humor, creativity, and connection—because healing doesn’t have to be joyless
And yes—we’ll talk honestly about how much worse this all gets when:
We’re expected to keep our cycles secret
How productivity culture, patriarchy, and capitalism make this worse
Trauma lives in the body, and hormonal sensitivity can activate a very real PTSD-like state

Good Practice Therapy is in the process of applying to be In Network with Aetna, United/Optum, and BCBS.
That means that currently this group will be what is called OUT OF NETWORK (we will provide you with a superbill at the end of the month which you can send to your insurance and potentially get some of the cost reimbursed).
This might change during the course of group, depending on your insurance and what they cover. We will keep all clients and patients updated on this process as it plays out. :) -
While we can’t totally say, it’s totally normal to feel a little nervous, but we think groupwork can benefit everyone!
This is why we offer a FREE 20 minute consultation so you can discuss your concerns with the group facilitator.
