      <image:title>ABOUT ME - About me and how I work…</image:title>
<image:caption>My approach is interactive, collaborative and supportive. I understand that healing can be a difficult and sometimes painful process, and so I place a lot of value on developing trust and comfort within the therapeutic relationship. I also believe in the power of creating space for joy and humor, and will work alongside you to create a safe space to explore your thoughts, behaviors, hopes, and desires without judgement. I use a combination of different therapeutic tools and techniques including traditional talk therapy, EMDR therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based practices. When not working, I enjoy long-distance biking, dancing, karaoke, and laughing. Curious to see if we’d be a good fit? I offer a free 20 minute phone consultation- just fill out a request on my CONTACT page.</image:caption>

<image:title>ABOUT ME - CAITLIN STEITZER, MSW, LCSW Therapist (NY, CA) Founder of Good Practice Therapy</image:title>
<image:caption>So you want to find a therapist - congrats, that's awesome! But you are not looking for a therapist like the ones you see on TV or in the movies, with their clipboards and big couches, their unreadable faces and zero reactions. You want to work with someone who is a real human, who has human responses and can relate to your struggles. I’m here for that. With humor, kindness, experience, curiosity and compassion I work with people who are ready to get in deep, gain understanding about themselves, and be supported in making lasting change to step into the life they want. A little more about me: Over 20 years experience with mental health: Starting with the Brandeis University Sexual Assault and Crisis Hotline, I have worked in a super wide variety of mental health jobs. I have worked in residential settings, over the phone, in community centers, and now currently in private practice. Trauma specialist: I am trained and experienced in some of the gold standard treatments for traumatic experiences, including EMDR, Trauma-Informed Yoga, and Cognitive Processing Therapy. Body-Love enthusiast: From my personal battles with disordered eating and body dysmorphia to my certification in Intuitive Eating from the pros, I have become an enthusiastic supporter of learning to love one’s body, even though I know first-hand how hard that is to achieve. Community-driven: No person is an island, and I believe that healing happens best in connection with others. In addition to being a therapist, I have built much of my career working in community and offering community services aimed at fostering greater connection between humans. It’s why you will see Good Practice sponsoring and organizing bike rides, groups, joyful exercise classes and community events in addition to traditional therapy services. If you are interested in working with me, please sign up for my wait list, or look at some of our group offerings.</image:caption>

      <image:title>ABOUT ME</image:title>
<image:caption>REBECCA VIGIL, AMFT, Associate therapist (CA only) As a former professional organizer with a BA in Religious Studies and an MA in Clinical Psychology, I believe our minds are a messy closet and I want to help you organize it. I am trained and skilled to help individuals and couples unpack what has happened, understand why you do the things you do, accept what we want to get rid of, decide what you want to keep, and reorganize for peace of mind. As a creative artist and improviser, I believe therapy is a science and an art. I aim to use my education, experience, metaphors, humor, compassion, reliability, and non-judgmental honesty to make therapy worth your hard earned money and irreplaceable time. There will be sessions where we explore what you want and your meaning of life (philosophize) and others where we slow down, breathe, and physically feel your emotions (pheel). Our relationship is collaborative. My job is not to pull you into the light. My job is to help you find the light switch. If you are looking for specific therapy lingo: I am LGBTQIA+ affirmative. I have experience working with PTSD, PMDD, ADHD, BPD, Depression, Anxiety, Chronic illness, Relationship distress, Major life changes, Surviving as an artist, First-born-first-generation expectations, Relationship with Self, Building new habits, and Grief. For couples, specifically: I have experience working with major life transitions; gender roles and expectations; infidelity; parenthood; communication; and frustration with having the same fight over and over again. My tool box is filled with a variety of modalities: Psychodynamic, IFS, Somatic experiencing, Narrative, Gestalt, Existentialism, Humanism, CBT, and DBT. We are navigating life on wavy seas. The goal of therapy is not to stop the waves of life but to learn how to surf them. I am passionate about discovering the best way for you, specifically, to manage the anxiety, and frequent systemic unfairness, of being alive.</image:caption>
